Even though Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho has already landed in Brazil to accelerate talks with Vasco da Gama, it may still take a while until this transfer is sorted out completely.
UOL had already reported that all parties are working for him to rescind his contract with the English side. Now they bring an update saying they’re working on a two-week deadline.
Aston Villa would then see the player leave them in the first half of June. According to the report, people close to Coutinho are ‘confident’ about his friendly exit from the club, despite his contract running until 2026.
It’s said by UOL that contract rescission is the final obstacle before Coutinho signs with Vasco.
When landing in Brazil on Friday, the midfielder spoke to the local media and claimed ‘everyone already knows‘ what will happen to him.
Coutinho joined Aston Villa in 2022 in a move from Barcelona. He had six goals and three assists in 43 appearances for the club, and spent last season on loan at Al-Duhail, who are making no efforts to keep him.
