With one year left on his contract at Tottenham Hotspur, Christian Eriksen has hinted he wants to leave the club after publicly expressing his desire to try something new next season.
The Denmark international has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Sport claims Los Blancos president Florentino Pérez views the 27-year-old as a ‘cheaper option’ to Manchester United star Paul Pogba.
He wants his side to bring in the former Ajax man to strengthen the midfield.
It’s once again explained negotiating with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will not be easy, but despite that, Perez would prefer to sign Eriksen, who would cost around €90m
Zinedine Zidane clearly wants to sign his compatriot over the Tottenham player and is unhappy with the choice made by Perez.
It’s claimed the Spurs player would be available for €70m in the summer transfer window.
Even though the numbers differ in the AS and Sport reports, the common theme here is Perez and others at the club want to bring in Eriksen, while Zidane is keen on signing Pogba.
The Frenchman will cost in excess of €150m, while the Dane is thought to be available for a much more affordable price.
In addition to this, the contract situation of Eriksen favours Madrid.
Two sources now claim the situation in regards to Pogba and Eriksen has created an internal debate at Real Madrid.
It’ll be interesting to see as who will budge between Perez and Zidane.
Over at Marca, they have Eriksen splashed across their front page, covering his Wednesday comments, but don’t add anything about the Real Madrid side of things.
