For those who thought the rumours about Cristiano Ronaldo’s summer departure from Manchester United were now gone, here’s some unexpected news coming from Turkey.
Outlet Ajansspor claims that Fenerbahce are about to ‘detonate the transfer bomb of the century’ by making a move for the Portuguese star.
It’s claimed that the Turkish side ‘mobilised all its means’ to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United at the end of the transfer window.
According to Ajansspor’s information, ‘the two sides agreed in principle’. It’s just not very clear if they mean that’s a deal between Fenerbahce and the player or with the Red Devils.
Cristiano Ronaldo is on the bench today as Manchester United are at the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City in the Premier League.
However, there’d be no rush for his departure from the club, as even though the Premier League transfer window closes today, the Turkish market only comes to an end on the 8th of September.
The strange thing about this move is that Fenerbahce have been knocked out from the Champions League’s play-offs, and presence in the competition has been claimed to be the main reason for Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Manchester United. On the other hand, they have a compatriot of his in charge, as Jorge Jesus is in the job.
