French outlet Foot Mercato today features an interesting update on the future of Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin.
Following recent reports from the English media which claimed the Magpies are keen on selling the player this summer, this fresh story claims there are two clubs currently working to sign him.
The first of them is Al Ahli. It’s said the Saudi side made Newcastle a verbal offer worth €25m plus bonuses.
The Magpies are said to be waiting for the ‘written and official offer’ before they start to ‘move forward’ with the operation.
Regardless of that claim, €25m certainly seems on the low side.
It’s claimed that in case Saint-Maximin does accept the offer, and Newcastle let him go, he’d make something between €12m and €15m a year at the Saudi side, and that’s something that could attract him there.
Now in case the player prefers to stay in Europe, Napoli are also said to be interested. Newcastle, meanwhile, are just ‘waiting to hear’ what the Serie A side will put on the table.
It remains to be seen whether the Italian club will match Al Ahli’s offer, and that could be decisive for Saint-Maximin’s future.
