As Crystal Palace seem on the verge of completing the signing of Daniel Muñoz from KRC Genk, the Colombian media brings some more details about the transfer.

A big way for South American clubs to benefit from sales is to include a percentage of future moves in the deal, and that’s what the fullback’s former clubs have done in the past few years.

According to journalists Juan David Londoño and Pipe Sierra, Atletico Nacional will get US$1.8m from Muñoz’s transfer from Genk to Crystal Palace.

The club won’t keep all of that money, though, as back in 2019, when they bought him from Aguilas Doradas, they agreed they’d split the income from a future move with them as well.

That means Crystal Palace are basically paying three clubs for Muñoz’s transfer, with Genk sending part of the cash to Atletico Nacional, who will split it with Aguilas.

According to recent reports from the Belgian media, the Eagles are spending €10m, with bonuses included, on the signing.

Muñoz joined Genk back in 2020. His 148 appearances for the Belgian side were more than enough to show his potential, and that led him to the Colombian national team, where he already has 23 caps.

The fullback is said to be ready to sign a four-year deal with Crystal Palace.
