While a move back to his home country appears to have been ruled out, Roberto Firmino is still going to leave Liverpool in the summer, as he prepares for the next step in his career.
The Brazilian is said to have a number of offers on the table already, and there is a high chance some of those are, or will be, from Italy, where Inter Milan and AS Roma are reportedly interested in him.
The interest from the former of the two is known, especially with the future of Romelu Lukaku up in the air, and Gazzetta dello Sport touch upon it on Tuesday.
They describe the Liverpool man a player of ‘top-level quality’, who is an ‘atypical centre forward’ who does everything he can to help and create space for his teammates.
It’s now ‘up to the player to make it clear what kind of challenge he’s looking for’, which could also be something he needs to tell Roma, who are also after him.
That comes from Leggo, relayed by Giallorossi.net, where it’s said José Mourinho’s side have made ‘the first moves’ to try and get the Brazilian on board with their specific project.
Whether they manage to pull it off remains to be seen, but for now, Firmino will be focusing on finishing his season at Liverpool in the best possible fashion to ensure he gets the best deal in the summer.
