It seems it’s not only Sporting who are interested in signing Chiquinho from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
According to journalist Bruno Andrade, Braga are also keen on landing the player.
It’s said on Twitter that the club want to advance ‘as soon as possible’ to close a deal with Wolves.
Braga’s idea is to sign Chiquinho on a loan on an option to buy, and the talks are said to be ‘ongoing’.
On Monday morning, newspaper O Jogo revealed that Sporting are moving for the signing as well. Even though they haven’t directly contacted Wolves, there are some intermediaries on the case.
It was said the Molineux side are prepared to sell the player for around €10m. Now we shall wait and see if this race between Portuguese clubs will result in some good bids arriving, as it’s not yet said whether the Lions would match that price.
Chiquinho spent the last season on loan at Famalicão, where he had five goals and four assists in 27 appearances. That was apparently good enough to draw some big interest from other local clubs.
A permanent transfer, potentially with a buyback option or percentage of a future sale, is surely the best deal for Wolves this summer.
