Valencia’s ‘tug of war’ with Brentford to sign Sergi Canós continues as they continue to only offer ‘a high percentage’ of a future sale and not a transfer fee for him.
That’s according to Marca, who say the Brentford winger ‘awaits movements’ as he holds out for a move to Valencia over other offers.
Canós returned to the Bees this summer following a loan spell at Olympiakos in the second half of last season following a loan move in January.
He had been expected to leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract, but Brentford elected to take up an option to extend him by a year and seek a transfer fee this summer.
That’s ended up frustrating the player, who is determined to join Valencia, his dream club, over all other offers.
That’s already seen him turn down interest from Anderlecht, with it later explained he was doing everything in his power to secure his transfer to the Mestalla.
The issue is that the Spanish side don’t want to, or cannot afford to, pay a fee for him and have instead been trying to secure a free transfer with a percentage of any future sale instead.
The amount of that future percentage has never been mentioned but Marca offer up some insight today, explaining that Valencia have offered Brentford a ‘high percentage’ of any future deal.
They remain determined to ‘get the player out for free’, something it seems the Bees are continuing to resist, hence ‘the tug of war’ between the two clubs.
It’s something that doesn’t appear to be close to being resolved, not unless Valencia suddenly come into money and are able to pay a transfer fee.
