Anderlecht are letting go of two of their youth players on Friday evening, with one of them set to join Ipswich Town.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports Tudor Mendel-Idowu is on his way to the Premier League club, although he doesn’t share any further details of the deal.

Meanwhile, Luca Monticelli will be moving to Hellas Verona in Italy.

Mendel-Idowu has only been at the Belgian club for just over a year, with the 19-year-old being part of their developmental youth squad.

He arrived at Anderlecht from Chelsea, where he’d been since 2013. Born in Slough, the midfielder chose to leave the Blues last summer, despite being offered a new deal with the London club.

At the time there were rumours of interest from Barcelona and others, but he decided to continue his career with Anderlecht.

A return to English football and a chance at Ipswich Town may be just what the youngster needs to move on to the next stage of his career.
