Thomas Tuchel has ‘fallen in love’ with Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku and wants to bring him to Chelsea if they can’t get Erling Haaland this summer.

That’s according to BILD journalist Christian Falk, who says that the Chelsea coach is aware Haaland, who is his dream signing, will be difficult to get this summer.

It’s believed that the Blues are on the hunt for a new centre forward ahead of next season, with Timo Werner having struggled massively since his big-money move from RB Leipzig last year.

Haaland is believed to be at the top of the list, but there is intense competition for his signature, and it has been stated that he would prefer some of the other clubs ahead of Chelsea.

If that proves to be the case, they will have to look elsewhere, and one name that has popped up recently is Lukaku, who has 21 goals and eight assists in 32 games in Serie A this season.

He, of course, played for Chelsea earlier in his career but failed to breakthrough, and according to Falk, Tuchel is ready to give him a second chance to make his mark.

“This is a clear true and for a simple reason,” he told BILD.

“We have already reported this, and apparently, our colleagues from the island are watching.

“But we have said it with reservations and that it will depend on how things go with Haaland, who, for Tuchel, is the dream signing, although he knows it is very difficult to make it happen.

“He also has to shift Dortmund, who don’t really want to sell.

“Therefore, he needs an alternative polished striker, and he has fallen in love with Lukaku, who is the player he would like to have.”
