Bryan Gil will have to return to Tottenham Hotspur after spending the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla.
The winger not only enjoyed regular game time [two goals and three assists from 24 games] but also won the Europa League with the Spanish club. He was a ‘key player’ under José Luis Mendilibar’s orders.
According to Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, the coach would like to have the Tottenham player at his disposal next season.
Spurs paid €25m plus Érik Lamela to take the attacker from Sevilla in 2021 and the latter has a deal at the north London club until 2026. This won’t make it easy for the La Liga side to get Gil back to the club in the summer.
Tottenham are aware of Mendilibar’s desire to have their player again at his disposal. They have ‘proposed’ Gil ‘plus a small financial amount’ to the Spanish club, in exchange for their goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou.
Ange Postecoglou’s side ‘try a barter’ with the Andalusian club involving Gil and the 32-year-old stopper. Whether this will pay off remains to be seen.
Three days ago, AS stated the clash against AS Roma in the Europa League final was the Morrocco international’s last outing for Sevilla as he’s set for a move to another club in the next window.
