Very late last night, a report emerged in France that Chelsea, as well as Liverpool, were keeping an eye on Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.
The 20-year-old, widely seen as one of the more exciting prospects in France these days, has been on the Reds’ radar for over a year now, back when he was just starting to break into Bruno Génésio’s first-team.
A lot has happened since then, and the young midfielder is now a regular at the Ligue 1 club along the likes of Memphis Depay and Tanguy Ndombele, which has attracted more and more clubs to come and watch him.
Among those, according to RMC Sport, are Maurizio Sarri’s club, who are said to have ‘supervised’ him for the past few weeks.
There isn’t much else to it, as they simply add Aouar has made it into the Italian’s ‘good books’ for the future.
That’s a far cry from some of the headlines we witnessed on Thursday morning, with some claiming Sarri was ‘desperate’ to sign him.
Furthermore, nowhere does it say in RMC Sport’s report that the Chelsea boss ‘wants to take his team’s play to another level’.
That’s just an outlet (we won’t name names, but a quick Google search should give you answers) trying to embellish a pretty straightforward story because it might not be exciting enough.
