Towards the end of last month, there were claims Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion are following CA Talleres’ Kevin Mantilla.
On December 28th, AS in Colombia relayed claims about the Premier League duo and then insisted the Reds hadn’t made contact with the 20-year-old’s entourage or Talleres for a potential deal.
Andrés Fassi, the president of the Colombian club, has now revealed both Liverpool and Brighton have been following the defender for a while. His quotes are relayed by La Voz and he adds the two English clubs have already requested information about him.
“It’s true, they have been following him for four months now. And they asked us for information about his physical records,” he said.
Talleres signed the Colombia U20 international from Independiente Santa Fe last summer and handed him a deal until December 2027.
Mantilla has made eight appearances so far this season and the CA Talleres president just said “no” when asked if he has plans to cash in from the South American’s sale in the winter market.
Liverpool’s interest in the player isn’t new as they had looked at him at the start of 2023, when he was at Independiente Santa Fe. Brighton have joined them in keeping close tabs on Mantilla.
