On Tuesday, 1908.nl reported Nottingham Forest have emerged as a shock contender to sign Feyenoord’s Santiago Giménez, and the Premier League side’s interest was backed up by Dutch journalist Martijn Krabbendam
Later that day, we covered claims from the Mexican press about the Reds’ desire to sign the striker this summer.
After claims about Nottingham Forest emerged in both the Dutch and the Mexican press, journalist René Tovar has shared the latest update with Record Mexico.
Tovar has contacted the 23-year-old’s entourage for an update and they informed him Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are keen to secure the Feyenoord star’s services. He has also found out from them that Nottingham Forest are considering making an offer.
“We were able to contact people close to Giménez and the answer [about Nottingham Forest’s interest] was the following: yes, it is true that Nottingham Forest want Santi, that’s right, there is a possibility that they may even have a formal, official offer from the English team, however, until last night, there had been no official proposal,” he told Record.
Record in Mexico adds that the Eredivisie side have no offer from Nottingham Forest or another club so far.
For over a year, the Mexico international has been linked with a move to top European clubs, but none of them have made approaches for him. Nottingham Forest have now stepped in, and they could be an option for Giménez in this window.
The frontman managed 26 goals and eight assists for Feyenoord last season.
