Monday’s edition of L’Eco Di Bergamo is very bullish on Atalanta’s record in the transfer window this summer, believing their local club has done very well indeed.
It’s claimed the past week ‘will remain engraved’ in the club’s history of transfer operations. That’s not all down to Rasmus Højlund moving to Manchester United, there’s also happiness with other deals.
Jeremie Boga’s move to Nice, for €18m plus €4m in bonuses, is described as a ‘masterpiece’ after a difficult season.
Beating Everton to take El Bilal Touré from Almeria, even for €27m plus €3m in bonuses, is another win.
And then we come to the Manchester United-bound Danish striker. L’Eco Di Bergamo say it’s the ‘transfer of the year’, not making it clear whether they mean within Serie A or generally.
The deal is called ‘legendary’ for Atalanta, and something that will go down in the club’s history. Indeed, they’re thrilled with €75m plus bonuses, with earlier local reports this summer saying €60m would be nice.
PSG moving into the picture, regardless of how serious their interest really was, appears to have pushed things a little higher and seen Atalanta receive more money from Manchester United than may have otherwise been the case.
The Bergamo media are thrilled with the business done so far at Atalanta, and will be hoping for more.
