On Monday, we covered the story from Corriere Dello Sport which spread the rumour about Tottenham’s interest in Amadou Diawara from Napoli.
The newspaper not only reported the chase, but also claimed that there’s a release clause for foreign clubs which would allow the Spurs to sign the midfielder for €60m.
Well, we made it pretty clear the the rumour was getting much bigger than it should be, especially because Corriere didn’t report any advanced talks for the youngster.
And it seems his agent isn’t very keen on feeding this story either. Because when speaking to local radio Crc today, he was quick dismissing any rumours about Tottenham.
“Tottenham on Diawara? Don’t you put around such destabilising rumors in such a particular moment of Napoli in the league, I don’t know who has an interest in doing so,” Daniele Piraino told Radio Crc (via Calcio Mercato).
Regarding the release clause, Piraino said: “It doesn’t exist, neither for Italy, nor for foreign countries. It has never been planned and there is no negotiation with Tottenham, with English teams or with other teams in Europe. Diawara is very well at Napoli, has a 3-year contract and is focused.”
The agent also made sure to say that his client is feeling good at Napoli, maybe implying Diawara would have no big reasons to be leaving the club anytime soon.
“He is very happy with the city, the fans, the squad and everything, and is focused on Napoli, on the fight for the Scudetto and he hopes to find a place in the final rush.”
