Southampton are reportedly monitoring Grêmio winger Alysson Edward as they consider potential additions for the remainder of the season. The information was first shared by journalist José Tomás Fernández Pumarino.

The fact that the Saints are currently competing in the Championship is said to weigh against a potential transfer, with Grêmio not expecting to lose the player in the current window.

A local news outlet, Antenados no Futebol, recalled that Liverpool had shown interest in Alysson at the start of the year, but no formal proposal ever materialised. Grêmio remain calm and focused on the player’s progression, having no plans to negotiate his departure.

Alysson Edward is a right-footed winger known for his pace, strength, and one-on-one skills. He joined Grêmio’s academy in 2015 and gradually worked his way through the youth ranks.

He made the step up to the first team recently and has started getting minutes at senior level, where he continues to draw attention for his raw potential.

It now remains to be seen whether Southampton will take their interest any further before the end of the window.
