Last Friday, we covered claims from France which stated there’s no doubt that Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte will end up at Manchester United before the window closes.
It was also said the midfielder is waiting for his agent, Jorge Mendes, to give the green light to making a switch to Old Trafford.
Monday’s edition of major Uruguay newspaper El País has a short but important update on Manchester United’s efforts to sign the 23-year-old.
It’s claimed the negotiations between Erik ten Hag’s side and PSG are ‘practically closed’.
The report adds the player will leave the Paris club for Manchester United in the ‘next few hours’. El País say there are a few small details that need to be ironed out.
There’s no mention of what these details are, but the two clubs are expected to sort them out. El País say ‘everything is on track’ for the Uruguay international to join the Premier League side quickly.
It’s worth noting that El País is one of the best sources in Uruguay.
Luis Enrique left Ugarte out of the squad for the first two league games of this season.
