Djurgården youngster Taseen Hossain is set to sign a new contract at the club, despite going on trial with Brentford.
That’s according to Fotboll Direkt. They report that Hossain has lined up a new contract despite Brentford’s apparent attempts to lure him away.
They explain that Djurgården have become accustomed to youngsters departing of late, with several heading for Europe with various clubs. Hossain looked like he would be the next out the door.
That was because back in the Autumn he headed for a trial in the Premier League, with Brentford. Djurgården’s academy director Joel Riddez confirmed the information at the time, although he wasn’t overly concerned either.
“We see it as a fun challenge for him to try it out,” he said when asked about the 16-year-old’s move. In fact, he later insisted he saw Brentford’s apparent interest as nothing more than confirmation of how well their own academy was doing.
However, it seems the Bees aren’t getting him permanently. Instead, Hossain is set to stay in Sweden and sign a new contract with Djurgården.
According to Fotboll Direkt, a clear plan has been laid out for him to play in Dif’s P19, similar to Alexander Andersson. He recently became the youngest Allsvenskan debutant ever at just 15-years-old.
A similar path is being envisioned for Hossain and, surprisingly, won’t be ending with him at Brentford as many expected.
