On Thursday evening, Tipsbladet reported Blackburn Rovers are closing in on a move for Bodø/Glimt forward Mathias Jørgensen.

A few hours later, Valérien Ismaël’s side announced the Dane’s arrival and confirmed that he has signed a contract until 2029, with an option for another year.

Earlier that day, claims from the UK reported Toulouse FC’s Aron Dønnum was set to move to Blackburn Rovers.

It was reported, as relayed by Les Violets, that the Norway international had travelled to England. His arrival at Ewood Park was even said to be imminent, such was the confidence. Meanwhile, the reports caused a little surprise in France.

A fresh report from Les Violets now looks into this claim and provides their own updates. The source that covered the information in England has deleted the report. That hasn’t stopped the French website from giving their own take.

Despite earlier claims starting the player was signing Blackburn Rovers, that isn’t the case. In fact, local sources have dismissed the possibility of the English club signing Dønnum.

Blackburn Rovers transfer isn’t happening

The outlet has found out from their sources the winger ‘is not expected to join’ Blackburn Rovers in January.

Ismaël’s side are currently 20th in the Championship table, four points above 22nd placed Norwich City. The report states the attacker isn’t keen on joining a club that’s fighting relegation.

Dønnum has managed four goals and two assists from 15 matches in all competitions this season. He has a contract until 2027 and Transfermarkt currently values him at €5m.

Although the player rules out a move to Blackburn Rovers, he could still leave the Ligue 1 side. There’s a real possibility for him to leave and the French club are considering it internally.

Toulouse are already anticipating the Norwegian’s departure. Should he fail to find a new club, Dønnum is likely to leave in the summer.
