Bayern Munich’s talks with Newcastle United over Kieran Trippier are ‘scheduled to start’ on Saturday as the idea of a deal picks up pace.
That’s according to BILD, who provide the latest update on the shock reports that the defender could be set for a surprise exit from St James Park.
The newspaper reports that Bayern are set to start new transfer talks over the weekend, with them still looking for a new right-back.
They’re continuing to try for PSG’s Nordi Mukiele, but those talks are dragging on and now they have Newcastle United’s Trippier on their radar.
They’ve been boosted by Newcastle’s recent suggestions they need to sell to help balance the books and allow them to do business this month.
That’s led to surprise talks regarding Trippier’s future throughout today and BILD now follow that up, explaining talks between Newcastle and Bayern are ‘scheduled to start’ tomorrow.
Those talks would be about a loan deal for the England full-back, with them explaining the Magpies ‘have to earn money’ due to Financial Fair Play and getting rid of Trippier’s contract, which runs until 2025, would presumably help that.
They hint that Trippier’s recent disappointing performances could have opened the door to an exit, although that is not specifically stated.
Either way, talks are planned and there is a distinct possibility Trippier could be on his way out of Newcastle.
According to their information, the defender has always been on the list for the German giants and now he’s simply back in focus. The fact he could link up with former Tottenham teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier is seen as a potential bonus.
