Even though the Portuguese press doesn’t have a lot to say about Bruno Fernandes, they continue to have stories about the player’s possible move to the Premier League.
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur continue to be pointed out as the most likely destinations for the midfielder, but it turns out the local media isn’t that confident about the move anymore.
Correio da Manhã brings a story claiming that none of the clubs are interested in paying the €80m Sporting are demanding for Fernandes.
They claim this should be a ‘decisive week’ for the transfer, since clubs are starting to meet their squads for preseason, but the English sides are only likely to spend that amount in case Paul Pogba or Christian Eriksen are sold.
Meanwhile, newspaper Record writes that Fernandes’ agent Miguel Pinho is returning to England this week, where he will try to ‘unlock’ the transfer once again.
Record claims that the ‘North of England’ is a ‘more likely’ destination now, because Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the player to be included in Manchester United’s preseason, while Spurs still wait for Eriksen’s future to be sorted.
However, when saying that Fernandes is on vacation, Record adds that he has never ruled out renewing his contract with Sporting. Perhaps that’s a sign that the chances of staying are getting stronger now.
