Newcastle United could they get the confirmation they want on Bruno Guimaraes on Friday, with L’Equipe saying the a ‘transfer is imminent’ for the midfielder.

The French newspaper explain Lyon’s transfer window was heading for a ‘bleak ending’ until the Magpies arrived with an offer earlier this week and ‘turned everything upside down’.

After an initial offer of €40m, it’s claimed the bid then went to €42m, to be paid in cash in one go, with further bonus payments of around €10m, with half of that amount expected to be reasonably achievable.

Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas ‘should accept the offer in the coming hours’, and the Brazilian is waiting ‘patiently’ for the two clubs to reach their final agreement, with it thought just details are missing.

Don’t be surprised if the financial level of this claimed deal differs between the English and French media.

Guimaraes is expected to arrive in Belo Horizonte, in Brazil, today, where one of his agents is waiting for him, along with a representative from Newcastle United.

Lyon don’t want the situation to drag on, because they need time to replace the player before the window closes.
