Liverpool have stepped up their efforts to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Earlier today, we covered claims from Spain which stated the Reds have offered a long-term deal to the 23-year-old.

Superdeporte, who are local to Valencia, back that up and provide the latest on Liverpool’s ongoing pursuit of the La Liga star.

The stopper’s exit from the Spanish club is ‘heating up’, after he agreed personal terms with Arne Slot’s side for a ‘long-term contract’.

The Georgia international is waiting for the Premier League side to find an agreement with Los Ches.

Earlier today, Marca reported Slot’s side are preparing a new offer, after Valencia rejected two formal offers for the Georgian.

Taking this into account, it’s quite possible Superdeporte are jumping the gun here with the agreement between the player and Liverpool. This would mean nothing if the Reds can’t agree a deal with the La Liga side.

Their website states Valencia sources have informed them that an agreement is ‘still far away’.

Liverpool’s idea is to sign Mamardashvili and loan him to another Premier League side, at least for a season.
