Sebastien Kehl is currently ‘weighing up’ whether he is interested in joining Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
BILD report on the 46-year-old and how he’s currently considering his options as Tottenham look to secure his signature.
Tottenham efforts for new DoF
Consistent reports from Germany over the last few weeks have stated that Tottenham are seriously considering Sebastien Kehl as their new sporting director.
The German is reportedly considered a top candidate internally at the club. The plan being formulated would see him unite with technical director Johan Lange to revamp the side moving forwards.
But according to BILD, Kehl is also ‘weighing up’ whether he wants the move.
In fact, he’s carefully considering whether he wants to return to football at all at this point. That’s because he only left Borussia Dortmund a few weeks ago. A return to the ‘big stage of football’ at this stage may be premature.
Tottenham are not the only ones making attempts. Hamburger SV and VfL Wolfsburg are also being linked with the former German international. He enjoys an excellent reputation internationally.
His network in Germany and Europe is highly valued, as his experience in transfers, squad planning and top-level leadership.
Tottenham still attractive
Despite their current dire circumstances, Tottenham are still attractive. They can certainly offer the most attractive overall package in terms of sporting and financial prospects.
They are also seen as a financially stable club with enormous potential. The stadium, infrastructure and Premier League revenues are all ‘top-notch’.
For Kehl, it would be a great opportunity to prove himself again abroad after his time at Dortmund. The opportunity to get a ‘staggering giant’ back on track could also be appealing.
But it is seemingly dependent on Spurs staying in the Premier League. That’s the first step to convincing Kehl the move is worth it. For now, he’s weighing up whether he wants to return to top-level football at all.
