Barcelona’s dream of signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United ‘does not vanish’, and they could move for him in the summer.
That’s according to Fichajes, who state that the Frenchman remains on the list of potential targets for the Catalan giants.
The Manchester United midfielder is out of contract in the summer and is currently ‘mulling over all the proposals’ on the table for him.
Barcelona are one of those that could be an option, with it explained that they have identified their midfield as one of the areas to improve for next season.
They’re facing the possibility of losing some of their current options, including Frenkie de Jong, so the possibility of adding a ‘guaranteed player’ could become ‘quite necessary’.
They will have to do that with the club’s tight finances in mind, though, so they are giving ‘a lot of importance’ to free agents who will not stretch the club’s coffers too much. Pogba is the name that ‘stands out above the rest’ in that regard.
He is yet to make a decision on his future, and ‘time is ticking away’ for him to do so. He is yet to accept the renewal proposal from Manchester United or opt for any of the other offers either.
Barcelona know that it is ‘very difficult’ for them to compete with the likes of Real Madrid, PSG and Juventus but they are ‘not giving up the dream of signing him’.
While Pogba is not the ideal player in terms of style of play for them, he is considered a ‘high level’ player that they cannot turn down, particularly on a free and so would be an ‘excellent’ capture.
Whether they can get him remains to be seen, with the Manchester United man yet to decide on his future at this point.
