Chelsea are getting on with their business of rebuilding Thomas Tuchel’s central defence, after the departures they were forced to see this summer.

Kalidou Koulibaly has flown to the United States to meet up with his new Blues teammates, and PSG’s Presnel Kimpembe is thought to be close to following him.

Saturday’s edition of O Jogo gives a Portuguese slant on the transfer, and whilst that may sound strange, there’s a very good reason.

According to the newspaper, Kimpembe to Chelsea is ‘very close’ to being completed, and PSG are therefore accelerating their efforts to bring a replacement in. The French club are set to ‘attack’ Sporting’s Goncalo Inacio.

The defender has a €45m release clause, but it’s made clear he can leave for less this summer. According to the report, PSG are preparing an offer worth €30m plus bonuses, and as they prepare for the ‘imminent departure’ of Kimpembe to Chelsea.

Inacio is 20-years-of-age and was a regular last season, playing 45 matches for the Lisbon club.

He’s yet to make his debut for Portugal’s national side, but has represented the country at various youth levels.
