Aston Villa are waiting in the wings for a potential deal for striker Serhou Guirassy, who could still leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

BILD report that despite Dortmund being clear with the 30-year-old that he’s in their plans, the striker doesn’t necessarily see himself staying at the club.

Aston Villa interest

The newspaper explains that while Dortmund consider the striker a key player, Serhou Guirassy is still considering his future. He does not see staying as a given.

While he is not in any hurry at this moment in time or pushing for a move, he would give ‘serious consideration’ to any attractive offers that arrive. He is particularly drawn to the Premier League.

Reports over the last few months have linked him with several English sides. Most recently, Aston Villa have been considered as a serious suitors. Sport Witness have covered their interest across several different reports from Germany in recent weeks.

Indeed, one such report stated that Aston Villa were intensively chasing the striker. And, in a further boost, he preferred them over other potential destinations.

Dortmund anxiety

His exit would be a ‘bombshell’ for Dortmund this summer according to BILD. The main risk comes from the timing. Should Serhou Guirassy not leave until late in the summer, they could face problems.

The biggest would be finding potential replacements, with the good ones likely to have been ‘snapped up’ by that point. The longer that Dortmund have to wait, the more limited their options are likely to become.

Their management are keeping a close eye on the market, waiting to move. But first they need a clear indication from Guirassy. He’s not pushing for a move, but he’s also not fully committing to another season at Dortmund either. It’s causing transfer anxiety at the German club, while Aston Villa wait in the wings.
