Last week, an article appeared claiming that Everton were in contact to try and sign Koni De Winter from Juventus.
The young centre-back was the subject of interest from both the Toffees and Lille in France, who were keen to know more about a potential deal.
In fact, Everton were interested in going a bit further than that, but they have now been dealt a blow by both Juventus and the young Belgian centre-back himself, according to Tutto Juve.
That’s because the 21-year-old is ‘getting closer and closer’ to staying in Turin after he left to go on tour with the Serie A side for pre-season.
The idea would be for him to continue training with the first-team ahead of next season, meaning that Max Allegri has an interest in keeping him around, especially if someone like Leonardo Bonucci were to leave.
Therefore, the ‘final decision is now close to being made’, and any hope Everton might have had of getting their hands on the Belgium U21 international appear to be quickly fading, unless Sean Dyche and co. can get something done quickly and be extremely persuasive.
