Earlier on Thursday, L’Equipe published an article looking at some of the business Marseille could do in January, and revealed that Brentford wanted two of their players.
One of those was Azzedine Ounahi, who was a target for the Bees over the summer, and it was claimed Thomas Frank’s team were still after him.
Marseille were even said to be open to letting the player go in January in case the right offer, from Brentford or another team, were to arrive, but that has now been denied by their president, relayed by Foot Mercato.
Pablo Longoria was speaking in a press conference on Thursday and was asked about the future of the Morocco international, clearly amid the rumours of Brentford being interested.
He said: “Ounahi is not a player who is leaving. We are very happy with him.”
Therefore, this will come as something of a blow for Brentford, who might have thought they stood a chance of signing the midfielder.
This means that, following Marseille’s reluctance to part ways with Renan Lodi, the Bees will have to turn elsewhere to bolster their squad in the coming weeks.
Pablo Longoria a annoncé que Ounahi ne quittera pas l'OM ! ❌
« Ounahi n'est pas un joueur qui est sur le départ, nous sommes très contents de lui. »
