Liverpool’s hopes of signing Jude Bellingham are diminishing by the day, with the deal too expensive for them if they cannot find investors.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say a move for Bellingham is ‘becoming increasingly difficult’ to plan this summer.
Bellingham is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer after another impressive season and his superb performances for England at the World Cup.
Liverpool are long-term admirers and had been the ‘long favourite’ in the poker for his signature, with Jurgen Klopp determined to reshape their midfield in the summer transfer window.
They’ve been working on a potential deal for months, even employing Jordan Henderson, who built up a close relationship with Bellingham at the World Cup, in an effort to convince the player to move to Anfield.
SportBILD say the real struggle for them is financially as they can only raise the ‘mega revenue’ needed, around €150m, if the club gets an investor promptly or is sold to new owners.
Furthermore, the fact that Liverpool are currently ninth in the table and ten points outside of the top four, so facing a battle to get into the Champions League next season, is another negative point.
For Bellingham, a move to Liverpool ‘still remains interesting’ but at the moment appears to be a difficult one to make a reality, with the Reds unable to afford the costly deal.
