Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara is attracting interest from other Premier League clubs, according to L’Equipe.
Aston Villa face PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday and ahead of this clash, the report looks at the French club’s failure to sign Kamara.
The midfielder is a product of Marseille’s youth system and spent five years with their first team before leaving them as a free agent to join Aston Villa in 2022.
Prior to making a switch to Villa Park, PSG wanted to sign the 25-year-old. They explained their project without submitting a written proposal, but Aston Villa were always ahead of the Ligue 1 winners.
Kamara found PSG’s project attractive, but it was very difficult for him to join them due to his close ties with Marseille. The Villans eventually won the battle in the end, and he has impressed for them.
L’Equipe state the traditional ‘English big four’ are looking at the opportunity to sign Kamara while PSG won’t be chasing him in the summer. His future decision could be influenced by the outcome of tomorrow’s clash at Parc des Princes.
Last week, Foot Mercato reported Unai Emery’s side are set to offer a ‘historic contract’ to the Frenchman, who has a deal lasting until 2027.
L’Equipe now claim the parties have held talks for a two/three-year extension for a salary similar to that of top five European clubs.
They provide no details of the English clubs that are looking at Kamara, and this may be an attempt to stir the pot ahead of the match against PSG.
