Earlier on Tuesday, we covered some claims from Italy that Lecce were interested in signing Celtic’s Johan Lagerbielke, currently pushed to one side by Brendan Rodgers, on loan.
The centre-back has only played in nine games in all competitions this season, scoring one goal in the Champions League, which has led to the Serie A side to take an interest.
Corriere dello Sport bring their slant, and point out that Lagerbielke’s Scottish experience at Celtic since his summer move from Elfsborg is ‘not going well’.
Lecce already wanted the centre-back when he was still in Sweden, but lost out to Rodgers and co., and they are hoping they can get him now.
They know the ‘economic parameters of the operation’ have become ‘more prohibitive’ due to him being in Scotland, where he will be earning far more money than he was at Elfsborg, but it’s made clear the ‘track remains open’.
However, for a deal to happen, ‘supply and demand must coincide’, which doesn’t appear to be the case at this moment in time, meaning more work needs to be done going forward for Lecce and Celtic to shake hands on a transfer, whether it be a loan or a permanent one.
This, in turn, corroborates the aforementioned claims that the Italians want the Scottish side to pay 100% of the player’s wages for a temporary spell, which won’t have gone well over at Parkhead.
