Watford’s chase for Cremonese striker David Okereke seems to be developing well.
Earlier this week, reports from the Italian media revealed that the player is ‘in the sights’ of the Hornets, as he’s ‘liked’ by the Championship side.
Now as outlet Il Giorno writes about Cremonese’s transfer window, they claim Okereke’s future seems ‘further and further away’ from them, ‘towards Watford’.
There’s nothing done, though, with the outlet still claiming that Besiktas are also in the race for him and haven’t given up yet.
Okereke joined Cremonese on a move from Club Brugge back in 2022. Since his arrival at the Italian club, he had 11 goals and five assists in 56 appearances.
We’re still to see how much Watford are putting on the table for his signing. Since he’s playing in the second division and is valued by Transfermarkt at just €2.7m, we wouldn’t expect the Hornets to spend a lot on his signing.
Still, the interest from Besiktas is certainly something that the Championship side should take into consideration, especially if there’s a late January auction taking place in the coming days.
