Following the performances Marcus Edwards had against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League, it was certainly inevitable that he’d be linked with a return to the club.

It turns out the Portuguese media today has another big reason to say this comeback is possible. Record feature a front page saying Spurs are ‘over’ the striker now.

It’s claimed that after the matches between Sporting and Tottenham, the London side made sure to send a scout to watch the Lions play Vitória Guimarães. On that occasion, Edwards had two goals and one assist.

With Spurs observing him now, Record believe they could be preparing an attempt to sign him in January or in the summer. The fact that the player himself said he’d like to return to the Premier League only makes the story stronger.

Tottenham let go of Edwards in 2019, when allowing him to move to Vitória Guimarães for free. The English side, however, made sure to keep 50% of a future transfer.

When Sporting bought the player in January this year, Spurs made a smart move by saying they didn’t want money and would prefer to keep their share from Vitória’s part.

According to Record, 50% of a transaction would go to Sporting, with another 10% staying with Vitória and 40% going to Tottenham. In case it’s the London side who sign him, that would then work as a discount.
