On Tuesday, we covered claims from the Turkish press that Tottenham Hotpsur are serious about Fenerbahçe’s Sebastian Szymański and will make an offer for him at the end of this season.
It was also stated the Istanbul club will need €30m to part ways with their star, but there was no mention of the fee Spurs are willing to offer.
This information is now provided by Fotomaç, who state Tottenham have ‘opened their purse strings’ to sign the 24-year-old.
The attacking midfielder arrived at the Turkish club last summer and signed a deal until 2027. He has excelled in his debut season, scoring 12 goals and registering 17 assists in all competitions so far.
His fine displays seem to have convinced the north London club as the report states they ‘will come with an offer’ of €20m to secure the Poland international’s services. There’s no mention of the Yellow Canaries’ stance on this, but Fotomac don’t laugh at the amount so that’s a positive sign.
Over at Damga Gazetesi, they state there’ll be an offer of €20m for the former Feyenoord man. Tottenham and Sevilla are keen and it’s claimed these clubs will offer that figure for the player.
That is a point we could very much take issue with. Unless Damga Gazetesi know something the Spanish club don’t, Sevilla do not have €20m to offer for anyone right now and certainly wouldn’t consider that kind of deal given their current financial issues.
Whether that brings the whole story into doubt, or just the Sevilla aspect, is down to the reader.
