Despite Antonio Conte’s future currently the main problem for Tottenham to sort out in the coming weeks, there is still some scouting work going on behind the scenes at Spurs.
The London club need to keep planning for the future, regardless of who their manager is, and one of the players they have an interest in is Elye Wahi.
We’ve covered some of the reports in him, and now we have found two more that name Tottenham as suitors for the 20-year-old, thanks to Made in Paillade and Jeunes Footeux.
Both bring their updates on the situation following his impressive performance against Clermont Foot at the weekend, when the Tottenham target scored both goals in Montpellier’s 2-1 win.
Allez Paillade’s is rather short, stating it’s now almost ‘impossible’ for the player to stay at his club beyond the summer.
They name Spurs as one of the interested clubs, and add some quotes from Clermont’s manager Pascal Galtier, who said: “I think he’s one of the best forwards in Ligue 1 at his age. What I know is that he’s a very good player. We aren’t the ones who are going to say the opposite because every time he plays against us, he scores goals. He’s efficient, which is rare at that age, so yes, I think he will be a very, very good player.”
Then come Jeunes Footeux, who state Tottenham are following the player ‘closely’, and explain that a transfer in the next transfer window is ‘clearly not to be excluded’.
In fact, they reckon that any exit, whether it be to Spurs or elsewhere, could bring Montpellier a fee of more than €30m.
That’s affordable for Tottenham, but it could all depend on who replaces Antonio Conte and whether they want him in their squad.
