On Monday, De Telegraaf repored Arne Slot’s agent Rafaela Pimenta will have a meeting with Feyenoord on Wednesday over Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in the manager.
Pimenta is set to have a meeting with the Dutch club’s general manager, Dennis te Kloese, and this is backed up by Algemeen Dagblad.
Tottenham have ‘made it clear’ to the agent they want the 44-year-old to be their new manager. Slot, through Pimenta, has informed the Premier League side he’s keen to join them.
With both parties keen, Pimenta now needs to convince Feyenoord to sanction the move. Slot has a deal until 2025 and the Eredivisie winners don’t want to see their title winning manager leave after this season.
Sources have told AD Feyenoord ‘will take a tough stance’ when Pimenta explains Slot’s wish to leave them for Spurs on Wednesday.
Chelsea paid €18m to take Graham Potter from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022 and Bayern Munich invested €25m to sign Julian Nagelsmann from RB Leipzig in 2021.
It’ll be up to Feyenoord to decide the fee needed to let go of him and they are aiming to collect ‘Nagelsmann-like’ fee for Slot. The Eredivisie side are in charge of the situation and this is ‘annoying for Spurs, Slot and Pimenta’.
Despite their ‘tough stance’, there’s feeling Feyenoord would allow Slot to leave for Spurs. The coach could be followed by Orkun Kökçü to north London. According to AD, Te Kloese knows Tottenham are interested in the Turkey international.
AD end their report by stating: ‘With Slot, the club wants to take a completely different course. One that is based on offensive and dominant football with a top fit selection. The fact that the market value of players often rises spectacularly after a period under Slot has not gone unnoticed at the club. Just as much as many of those famous players quickly disappear from the spotlight after a transfer away from Slot’s working method. According to the English club, Slot must be a very special manager.’
Meanwhile, De Volkskrant journalist Bert Wagendorp says Feyenoord are set to earn ‘tens of millions’ not only through Slot’s departure but also from Kökçü’s sale to Tottenham.
He claims Spurs ‘will come with an offer this week’ for both the manager and the 22-year-old midfielder. Wagendorp says Slot ‘will not be able to resist’ the millions he could receive from Tottenham.
