Earlier on Friday, Giovani Lo Celso’s transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Villarreal was reported by Argentine sources.

Among claims that the player was travelling to Spain to have his medical and sign for the La Liga side, both journalists Gianluca Di Marzio and Cesar Luis Merlo stated the Yellow Submarine were signing him on a loan with an option to buy.

An hour or so later, it turns out that the Argentine reporter comes up with an update on the situation, this time claiming the formula is a little different.

According to Merlo, Lo Celso’s loan to Villarreal doesn’t include a buying option.

Actually, it’s said Tottenham can choose to bring him back in January ‘if they have an offer to sell him’, as long as the player is on board with the operation.

The Argentine player had been linked to other clubs this summer, such as Fiorentina and Lazio, but his loan spell at the La Liga side earlier this season helped them to get to a new deal this time.

Now, however, it seems Tottenham are getting prepared in case other clubs give Spurs the chance of making money with a permanent sale.
