Real Sociedad striker Willian José turned down loan moves to Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion on deadline day.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say that the Brazilian was not interested in going out on loan and would only accept a permanent transfer.
The newspaper reports that José was ‘at the starting gate’ for a transfer until the last day of the window but ultimately did not cross it.
They explain that La Real had made it clear that he was available for transfer and waited for any offers to arrive right up until the end of the window.
Nobody was willing to offer that, though, with the only offers being loan deals. Marseille, Tottenham and West Brom ‘came looking’ in that regard but the player wasn’t interested.
He rejected all of these options because he didn’t want to leave on loan, instead preferring to join Marseille or Tottenham permanently.
Nobody was willing to offer that, not even West Brom, so he ended up staying at the club despite another transfer window of speculation.
