Earlier today, we covered claims made in Spain that José Mourinho ‘wants to bring’ Sevilla’s Diego Carlos to Tottenham Hotspur after this season.

The Spurs manager could be combing the market for a centre-back and a new name can now be added to the list, if a report from Torino Granata is to be believed.

It’s claimed the north London club have joined a few other suitors in chasing Napoli defender Nikola Maksimović.

The Serbia international will see his contract expire at the end of the season and the report states the chances of former Torino man signing a new deal at the Naples club have been ‘reduced to almost zero’.

Inter Milan are chasing the 29-year-old, along with other ‘candidates’ and that’s when Tottenham are mentioned.

According to the website, Mourinho’s side, West Ham United, AS Roma, Fiorentina and FC Porto are ‘warming up’ to sign the potential free agent in the summer.

That’s the only information about Spurs cited in the report. With Maksimović expected to leave Napoli, it’ll be interesting to see which club will be successful in acquiring his services.
