As Tottenham Hotspur still seem to lead the race for Sporting stars Pedro Porro and Marcus Edwards, we get to see a couple of new updates in the Portuguese media today.
One of the stories comes from Correio da Manhã, who say the result of the Lisbon derby at the weekend will have an impact on the Lions’ transfer plans for the January transfer window.
Sporting already lost to Marítimo in the last fixture, and if they’re defeated by Benfica, there will be no real chances for the title, meaning they need to start thinking about next season.
It’s recalled that Porro and Edwards are both wanted by Tottenham, and one of them could leave in case of a loss at the weekend.
Meanwhile, newspaper Record comes up with a story which is basically a response to what has been said earlier this week.
Following reports that Chelsea are also interested in Porro, the Portuguese outlet now writes that it’s only Tottenham who ‘verbally made official’ their intention to sign the player. Even though there’s no official bid on the table yet, Spurs are offering the player a salary worth €5m gross per season, and know they need €45m to get him signed.
