After reports from the Portuguese press that a deal between Sporting CP and Tottenham was close for Pedro Porro, it’s all gone downhill since then.
There have been a few reports in the Spanish and Italian media that the Portuguese club were using a technicality in the Spaniard’s contract to ask for more money, and that has led to more talks.
This is what journalist Bruno Andrade is reporting on Friday afternoon, claiming that a further negotiation ‘wasn’t supposed to’ happen, but Tottenham and the Portuguese side decided ‘to have another meeting today’.
In fact, said gathering between parties is ‘taking place right now’, suggesting that Spurs and their counterparts are really trying to get a deal over the line.
Why that is the case isn’t said, but this does suggest there’s more to it, despite the fact the defender supposedly was readying his bags ahead of his move to Tottenham.
In fact, the Cup final on Saturday was supposed to be his farewell game, but if these talks don’t go well, that might not be the case.
Pedro Porro: não era suposto, mas Tottenham e Sporting resolveram fazer hoje mais uma reunião. A conversa está a decorrer neste exato momento. A ver qual vai ser o resultado…
