In an unsurprising turn of events, it seems the Georges-Kévin Nkoudou to Tottenham transfer might not be happening after all.
This might be us being pessimistic, but when a deal is said to be on the verge of completion with a medical having taken place, and it’s still not been confirmed nearly three weeks later, something isn’t right.
According to La Provence on Wednesday, the deal seems to be ‘backtracking’, but no one really knows why.
The local newspaper recap the situation briefly, and reveal once Nkoudou’s medical had been completed, the player went to a hotel in London to ‘desperately wait’ for the final announcement, where he waited, and waited, and waited, and wai…
He’s still waiting, and so are we.
It’s even reached the stage where La Provence are speculating the player could reintegrate Marseille’s squad for the new season, although it seems unlikely considering their need for his sale financially.
There have been reports that Tottenham decided to lower their offer once everything was agreed, which was met with understandable shock down Marseille’s end.
This decision by Daniel Levy could very well be what pushed Paul Mitchell over the edge, and forced the chief of recruitment to hand in his notice on Tuesday night.
We expect this to drag on a bit longer, because three weeks clearly isn’t enough for both parties to get a deal done.
