Tottenham are edging closer to signing Kawasaki Frontale’s Kota Takai and this can impact their interest in Parma’s Giovanni Leoni.
The UK and Italian media had linked Spurs with a move for the Parma teenager, who has also been of interest to Inter Milan and other Serie A giants.
ParmaLive report that with Tottenham set to land Takai, they will now move on from Leoni.
The 18-year-old was valued at €30m by the Italian side, who saw him impress during the second half of the 2024/25 season under now-Nerazzurri manager Cristian Chivu.
It’s believed this high price made Tottenham focus on signing Takai instead, who was available for a much lower fee.
Leoni continues to attract attention from multiple clubs, with AC Milan and Inter ready to challenge for his signature and make offers.
Considering how the teenager would have demanded regular first team football to progress his development, not joining Tottenham would make sense for him because Cristian Romero and Micky van Ven are undisputed regulars at the back.
