Taking nearly as long as Paul Pogba to Manchester United, but with a lot less hype and ‘blah blah blah’, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou’s transfer to Tottenham still hasn’t been sorted.
Thrown into the mix was Clinton N’Jié’s proposed loan to Marseille for the youngster to get some game time after a failed first season at White Hart Lane, but that still hasn’t been done either.
Here we are, on the 12th of August, still waiting for an official announcement, and it seems Nkoudou is still in his hotel room, as Marseille’s manager, relayed by Mercato365, after insistence from the media during a press conference, revealed the player was still in England.
We highly doubt the 21-year-old is there on holiday, meaning he’s probably still in his hotel room with a big stack of DVD handed to him by Spurs to get him up to date with what will be expected from him.
What was originally meant to be a €13m permanent move now seems to be a loan with a view to buy, most likely because the club will now have to pay for Florian Thauvin’s transfer next season, as the Newcastle winger rejoined his former team on a loan, also with a purchase clause.
It’s complicated, but there’s a feeling we’re getting there.
