Since Tottenham Hotspur’s last failed attempt for the signing of Pedro Porro from Sporting, this transfer is being considered very unlikely.
On Thursday, we had already seen newspaper A Bola claiming Spurs were not expected to make a new attempt for the full-back.
Regarding today’s updates from local newspapers, it really sounds like the player is staying with the Lions for the rest of the season.
It all starts with Ruben Amorim’s last press conference, as the manager was asked about Porro’s potential transfer to Tottenham, and didn’t sound like he was afraid about the Spaniard moving to London.
“I cannot guarantee anything. I don’t think he leaves. To leave at this point, it has to be through the clause, that’s the knowledge I have at the moment. Either there is a club that triggers the clause and Porro wants to leave, or he will not leave in January,” said Ruben Amorim (via Record).
Meanwhile, as newspaper Correio da Manhã shares a story on the situation, they claim Pedro Porro told Ruben Amorim he has his ‘body and soul’ at Sporting, despite the rumours of a Tottenham move.
It’s claimed that even though the player ‘welcomes the move’ that could see him head to Spurs, he knows he’s only leaving if Spurs trigger his release clause, and there’s now a ‘pact’ between player and manager for him to have total focus on the club until someone actually triggers the €45m release clause.
