Tottenham’s chances of signing forward Jonas Hofmann from Borussia Monchengladbach are strong, with the player open to the idea of a change this summer.

That’s according to SportBILD, who say the German is ‘currently thinking a lot’ about his future and where it lies.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Hofmann for several months, with it stated back in March that they had ‘renewed interest’ in him.

That was followed by a report earlier this week that claimed they were in regular contact with the player about a move to England, having initially shown an interest last summer.

BILD now follow that up today, and while there is no specific mention of Tottenham, there are plenty of positives for them.

They explain that Hofmann is ‘thinking a lot’ about his future, and at the moment, it looks like he will be departing on a free transfer, something which would be a ‘low blow’ for the Bundesliga side and their fans.

There are ‘three bitter truths’ about Hofmann’s future, the first being that Gladbach simply cannot afford to match Hofmann’s demands, which are in line with the market.

He currently earns €2.5m a year, a low figure considering someone like Serge Gnabry is on seven times as much but has not been better than his compatriot in any way, shape or form.

Then there’s the ‘chilled love’ between the player and his current club, courtesy of Max Eberl’s departure earlier this year.

Hofmann had a ‘very special relationship’ with the director of football, and now that he’s gone, he has to question his own future.

Lastly, there is the player’s own ‘lust for adventure’. Hofmann ‘repeatedly emphasizes’ that he wants to look for a new challenge and is open to anything that comes his way.

A recent brace against Leipzig has only increased his suitors, and that ‘further increases’ the chances that he will embark on that new adventure this summer.

Whether that’s with Tottenham remains to be seen, but they’re certainly keen, and it seems there is a big opportunity there for them if they want to make a deal happen.
