Tottenham may be handed their chance to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig soon as the player has now received his final contract offer from the German side.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who explain the Bundesliga side’s final effort to keep the player and extend his deal has now been made.
Olmo is set to enter the final year of his contract with Leipzig this summer and it’s been made clear that, if he does not sign a new deal, he will be sold.
Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in him if he does become available, with a recent report indicating they had been in touch with his representatives about a possible move.
That will only happen if he doesn’t sign a new deal with Leipzig, who are keen to keep him and even willing to make him one of their highest earners.
Sky Germany cover that today, explaining the ‘contract poker’ with the player will probably come to an end sooner rather than later.
They explain that Olmo and his advisors have now ‘received the final offer’ from Leipzig. The German club are willing to go all out and move the Spaniard up to the ‘absolute top group’ of earners at the club. That offer has now been made to the player and his representatives.
However, the monetary aspect is not everything for the player and the 24-year-old is also concerned with the sporting aspect. More importantly, he wants to play in the Champions League, something RB Leipzig may not be able to offer as they’re currently fifth in the table.
Thus, there is a decision to be made, with other clubs interested in his signature and Tottenham among those said to be keen.
They also can’t guarantee Champions League football at he moment, and don’t look like being able to next season either but should Olmo not sign Sky say a ‘realistic price’ would be €30m, a figure they could certainly afford.
