Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Zaniolo is set to be absent of Roma’s next games, the Italian media says.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims the player will be out of the Giallorossi’s squad for the match against Spezia.
That’s because he could still leave this month as he is ‘officially on the market’, and the club prefer to leave him out of action for now.
The report doesn’t mention any likely destinations for Zaniolo for now, although recent stories from the Italian press claimed Tottenham are one of the contenders to sign him.
Amid reports claiming Spurs are working on the signing, we saw Sport Mediaset now claiming that the midfielder already said ‘yes’ to the move, since he likes the idea of being coached by Antonio Conte.
It was said Tottenham want Zaniolo signed on a loan with a buying option worth €20m, that would be triggered if they were to qualify for the Champions League.
But Roma would rather let him go with a more certain clause for a permanent transfer.
They’re also looking to make more with the sale, and currently demand between €35m and €40m.
Update: Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport have come out and stated that it was Zaniolo himself who pulled out, saying he ‘wasn’t available’ to play.
